$250?! What’s the Story?
Many years ago, a woman dining at a Neiman Marcus asked how much the recipe for her cookie would cost. She was told $250. When she received her credit card bill, she was quite surprised they actually charged her for it.
After failing to get it removed from her account, she decided to share it with everyone for free. Is this a true story or just an urban legend? Read more and judge for yourself.
Ingredients Needed
- Butter
- Brown sugar
- White sugar
- Egg
- Oats
- Flour + Salt
- Baking powder + Baking soda
- Chocolate chips
- Milk chocolate bar
- Walnuts
Ingredients Notes
Butter
Make sure it’s softened! Need to soften it quickly? See a few tips.
Oats
I used quick cooking oats. You can use old fashion oats, however, you will need to grind them up in a food processor beforehand.
Chocolate Bar
I used a standard Hershey Bar and grated it with a cheese grater. You can use baking squares as an alternative. Just be sure it’s milk chocolate.

Storage
- Keep any leftovers in a covered container. You don’t need to refrigerate, unless the weather is very hot/humid in your area.
Can I Freeze These?
- Yes. Let the cookies cool completely. Then, store in a freezer safe, covered container/storage bag. They will be good for a couple of months.
