Our no refined sugar January is coming to a close. I hope you enjoy these recipes! Plus, that you were able to find out a bit more about sweetening your desserts with something other than white or brown sugar.

I know it’s been a learning experience for me and I’ve really liked it. With that, I will continue to share recipes without refined sugars, but, will do it alongside desserts with regular white or brown sugar. Something for everyone. 👍

Your Ingredients List (for rolls):

  • Flour
  • Baking powder + Salt
  • Butter + Vanilla
  • Unsweetened vanilla almond milk: Regular dairy milk can also be used, but, the nutritional value in the recipe card may differ.
  • For Filling: Melted butter + Coconut palm sugar + Ground cinnamon

These are a pretty basic cinnamon roll recipe. If you don’t want to top them with the caramel sauce, a classic powdered sugar glaze will also go with them. Also, if you wish to make these vegan, simply replace regular dairy butter with a vegan version.

Your Ingredients List (for caramel sauce):

  • Coconut palm sugar
  • Water
  • Coconut whipping cream: Regular dairy whipping cream will also work, but, the nutritional value in the recipe card may differ
  • Vanilla + Salt

How to Make the Caramel Sauce: In a saucepan, over medium heat, whisk together coconut palm sugar and water. Whisk just until the sugar is dissolved. Then, add in whipping cream and let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes or until it thickens. If you can draw a line on the bottom of your saucepan, it’s a good indicator that it’s thick enough. Keep a close eye on it and whisk it occasionally. Remove from heat and whisk in salt and vanilla. The sauce will thicken even more as it cools.

This caramel sauce is amazing! Use it anywhere you would normally use a salted caramel sauce…not just on these rolls. 😉

Enjoy-
