Monkey Bread from Scratch- -No refrigerator biscuits required! Bite size pieces coated in a cinnamon sugar mixture, then, baked in a bundt pan. It’s then topped off with dreamy caramel sauce for the ultimate treat.

We love a good pan of monkey bread around here.
What’s Monkey Bread?
- Smaller pieces of dough are baked together in one pan. Then, you eat it by the pieces…one by one. It’s good stuff!
Ingredients Needed
- Flour + Salt
- Baking powder
- Ground cinnamon
- Eggs
- Milk
- Sugar
- Vanilla
- Additional for topping: Caramel sauce
Ingredients Notes
- Sugar: Coconut palm sugar or brown sugar can be used instead. Check out the recipe card for the brand/kind of coconut palm sugar that I use.
- Caramel Sauce: If you have a jar in your kitchen, feel free to use that. If you wish to make caramel sauce homemade, it’s quite easy. You can make a basic version, a version with no refined sugar or a no cream ( using milk) version.
- Caramel Sauce? If you don’t want to use caramel sauce at all, drizzle the top with a simple powdered sugar glaze.

How To Assemble Monkey Bread
First, mix your dough. Your dough should be soft, but, not sticky. If it’s too sticky, add a bit more flour, but, just a tablespoon at a time.
Remove a piece of dough that is about a tablespoon in size. Then, coat it in the cinnamon sugar topping. Place it in a well-greased bundt pan. Repeat with the remaining dough, layering the pieces in the pan as you go.
Bake. After removing it from the oven, let it sit for 15 minutes to cool. Then, flip the pan over on to a large plate/serving platter/baking sheet and let the bread fall out of the pan. If it’s sticking a bit, give the bottom of the pan a little smack.
Drizzle the top with caramel sauce and dig in!
