What Kind of Apples Should I Use?

  • A firm and tart apple works best for a pie filling. Granny smith, jazz, pink lady golden delicious & jonagold will all work well.

Where Do I Find Puff Pastry Shells?

  • These can traditionally be found in the frozen dessert section of your grocery store. Ours is near the whipped topping and frozen fruit. I used Pepperidge Farms puff pastry cups. See their website for a store locator.

Recipe Notes:

  • Be sure to store any leftovers in the refrigerator. They are best eaten within 2-3 days of making.
  • The apple filling is very hot once it’s fully cooked! Please be careful when handling.
  • This filling can be used as a traditional apple pie filling. So, if you don’t want to make the cups, it will work for a 9 inch pie.
  • If you don’t wish to use the powdered sugar glaze, Ice Cream or whipped topping/cream are both great options.
